Cloud backup saves your records, photos and settings to the cloud so you can bring them back after changing devices or reinstalling the app. It is available on Pro and Pro+ while you are signed in.
When you change devices
- Back up on your old device: in the app, go to Settings → Cloud Backup and tap “Back up now”. Keep the app open until you see “Backed up” (switching to another app or locking the screen pauses the backup).
- Sign in to the same account on your new device: signing in alone does not move your records.
- Tap “Restore from backup” on your new device: in Settings → Cloud Backup. The records, photos and settings on the new device are replaced with the contents of the backup.
If the records on a device are not yet used with your account, you are first asked to confirm “Use with this account”.
What is saved
- Records, settings and photos.
- Photos are saved newest first, up to 1 GB on Pro and 2 GB on Pro+. Older photos beyond the limit are not saved but stay on your device. All records and settings are saved.
- Your sign-in, purchases, and photo analysis and AI insight consents are not part of the backup, and stay as they are when you restore.
Good to know
- Backups are not created automatically. Back up with “Back up now” before changing devices. Changes after your last backup are not included. If you have records not backed up for over a week, a reminder appears on the Bag Map (you can turn it off with “Backup reminder” on the Cloud Backup screen).
- Restoring replaces. The records, photos and settings on the device are replaced with the backup, and this cannot be undone. Records you deleted on the device come back if you restore an earlier backup.
- OS backups, device transfers and reinstalling alone do not bring your records back. BanteNote’s records are not included in iCloud backups, so use cloud backup. “Restore Purchases” brings back only your plan, not your records.
- Only the latest backup is kept. A new backup replaces the previous one.
- When your plan ends: the cloud backup is kept for 30 days after your paid plan ends, then deleted. If you subscribe again within that time, you can keep using it. Records on your device are not deleted.
Limits
| Action | Limit |
|---|---|
| Backup | 3 per 24 hours, 30 per 30 days |
| Restore | 2 per 24 hours, 3 per 30 days |
A backup with the same contents as the previous one, and resuming an interrupted one, are not counted.
Deleting the cloud backup
Go to Settings → Cloud Backup → “Delete cloud backup”. Deleting your account also deletes the backup. After deletion it remains for 7 days in the storage provider’s systems.
